In the making: Gazebo

Writer's picture: pausiopaopausiopao

A year before our wedding, we decided to do the reception in my parents' frontyard. Few of my relatives were against the idea because our frontyard looks so barren. But little did they know that we already had few ideas in mind.

We thought of having a gazebo so that there is more space for guests to sit during the reception and will be quite useful for my family after the event. It's like hitting two birds in one stone, right?

Octagon-shaped

There is a lot of gazebo styles out there but the octagon-shaped ones appealed to us.

The plan

My sister, Kaye did the design and lay out for the gazebo including the materials needed.

Work in progress

The weeds were all removed first then they set the lay out. My dad supervised the whole thing and he hired some good carpenters in town.

Some of the tress have to be removed, they used the wood for making the gazebo and pergola.

Its been raining quite often so there are times that they have to postpone the build.

Yehey! It's almost in shape.

I really want to thank my dad for all his effort in this project. Thank you so much P! ❤️

The roof is now in place.

Seats were built in and it can accommodate more or less 20-30 people.

The weeds were all cleared out and the soil was flattened using a grader.

The view from our kitchen...

We painted it in a dark brown color for a rustic look.

The Unmet Vision

I have this vision of having a pathway of plants before reaching the gazebo but because of financial and time constraints, we were not able to accomplish what was visualized.

The Final Look

I was quite happy with the outcome not only for the wedding reception but I think of this as a gift to my parents. Now our place looks like a resort because of this. With the help of my sister and father who are miles away from me, we were able to finish this project in a matter of few weeks.

My sister, Kaye.

My father, Franz.
