Have I ever mentioned about my father considering himself as a "boy scout of the year?". Well, it's the only award that he ever had. So, no wonder when we were planning for the outdoor landscape, we fully considered about having a nice fireplace for us to sit, relax and enjoy the night away. For sure we might use the place for grilling hotdogs and drinking coffee in a cool weather. Nice, right?
Now for the ideas...
We wanted something like this, but not circular.
This is one option if incase we lack enough budget.
Basically, we wanted two L-shaped seats facing each other. Material would be made of concrete so that it will be long lasting.
A fire pit is a must. You can opt for having a griller at the top for your campfire foods.
For a finished look, we wanted to put some crushed rocks at the whole area.
Now, it's time for my sister (Patricia Kaye) to make a model for our dream fireplace. By the way, she currently finished studying architecture that's why she was the best one in the job.
She also made an estimation of all the materials needed and its costs. (Her estimated materials were totally not enough for the project but i do understand that she's just starting to practice her profession.) I believe in you sis.
Then, when everything was settled we started the construction.
They started digging out the soil in the lay out.
Then they started cementing the framework of the seats.
Soil and sand was added inside the fireplace to flatten out the surface.
Now, the finishing touches of cement...
Many options were there for the color but it was my parents' decision to choose the brick-like color for the fireplace. I was into either black or very dark brown but I lost to them.
We also planted some pandakakis in all the corners.
