Rain-proof wedding favours: Classic Umbrella

Writer's picture: pausiopaopausiopao

A lot of thought was put upon the idea of wedding favours. Obviously, i was so excited to dream about what to give to the esteemed guests of our wedding.

But I really don't want to waste my money on stuff that aren't practical. Like those cute figurines that guests can put in display. I also don't like the idea of giving something with our pictures on it.

So, the search is on.

The two factors that you always need to consider are BUDGET and No. of GUESTS. Even if you found the best favour that you want in your wedding but your pocket says "No" then you will have to search some more.

I first fancied the idea of giving cowboy hats for men and hand fans for women.

I even asked my sister to check the prices in divisoria. But sadly I got a higher pricetag than expected even if its on wholesale. And besides, my husband told me that who would want to wear cowboy hats all the time after the wedding? Well, I was blinded by the idea that I need to give wedding favours that are well suited to the rustic theme.

Now, I'm back to zero.

I also like the idea of giving out succulents in pots. They look so cute and are very popular as giveaways recently.

FYI, I love plants. And our reception was held in the outdoors so these cuties might have been a big hit for the guests. BUT, it contradicts to my preference of not giving display items (even if it's a plant).

Chinese umbrellas (parasols) were stuck in my mind for few weeks. I was trying to reason out with my self that it's a practical giveaway and ladies will love it.

But, you guessed it right. They are made of paper so a little drizzle here and there will make the favours useless. And those would be some terrible waste of money that I will only be able to appreciate in pictures (IF it will not rain during the wedding).

The last contender was the transparent umbrellas which can be even bought at 7Eleven and Daiso.

But I heard that they are not the sturdy type. For me, this kind of umbrella look cool but I wanted something that's long lasting.

It was my husband who finally convinced me that a normal umbrella would be best. But rather than the folding ones that are handy, we wanted the classic ones. Those long umbrellas which have curved brown handles that families can use during the rainy season and even on sunny days in the Philippines.

My sister tried to check in divisoria but we didn't find the style that we wanted and it would have been difficult to buy several dozens of these in one color. Then, I finally found an umbrella company who makes custom made umbrellas for big companies - Classic Umbrella Industries Incorporated. I found them through google, checked the Facebook account and contacted them online.

They were very responsive and one staff is assigned to follow up my orders (Thank you maam Jonylyn). They sent me a quotation through email. She was patient enough to answer all my queries through email and they accepted my request even if its a minimum order. We picked the gray color as it is part of our color motif palette. We don't want any initials to be printed so that the guests can freely use it at home. I paid through remittance and they guided me on which trucking service we can use to deliver 2 big boxes of umbrella (120pcs) to my hometown.

When the order arrived, my mom and brother checked the quality of the umbrella and I was amazed when they told me that the umbrellas were big and sturdy. I am very happy with the outcome and if anybody wants to order 120+ pcs of umbrellas, you know who to contact.
